Everything is a note

There is no separate "notebook" type to set up. Any note can hold other notes, so a notebook is simply a note you decided to put things under. That means you never have to choose a structure before you have anything to structure.

Move a note under another one at any time. Nesting has no fixed depth limit.

Renaming and moving

A note's title is the first line of the note. Renaming is editing that line — nothing else refers to the title, so nothing breaks.

Moving a note takes its children with it.

Trash, and when deletion is final

Deleting a note puts it in the trash. It disappears from your lists and searches but is still there, and can be restored.

Notes in the trash are permanently deleted after 30 days. That sweep runs on the server, so it happens whether or not you open the app. Emptying the trash yourself deletes immediately.

Permanent deletion is exactly that: there is no further copy to restore from.

Attachments

Files attached to a note count against your plan's storage. They are deleted along with the note when its deletion becomes permanent.

If you are over your storage limit — most often after moving from Pro to Free — nothing is deleted and everything stays readable. Only new uploads stop until you are back under the limit. See Plans and billing.
